雇用コンサルティング会社｢チャレンジャー・グレイ・アンド・クリスマス（Challenger, Gray and Christmas）｣ のレポートによると、2019年第1～第3四半期の間に1160人のCEO（最高経営責任者）が退任した。
これは金融危機真っただ中の2008年1～9月までの1132人を上回る数字で、同社が2002年に調査を開始して以来、最も多い。
業界別に見ると、テック業界はWeWork（ウィーワーク）のアダム・ニューマン氏や電子たばこ大手Juul（ジュール）のケビン・バーンズ（Kevin Burns）氏を含め154人と多かった。
10月22日（現地時間）には、アンダーアーマーとナイキのトップが相次いで退任を発表した。
レポートによると、CEOを退く1160人のうち、438人は別の役職で会社に留まり、292人は引退し、103人は別の企業へ移るという。
